About archery in Toronto

Toronto's ranges cover an unusually wide spread for one city. Metrolinx is building part of the Ontario Line in E.T. Seton Park, and it moved the archery targets to make room. Its access roads will stay in the park until late 2029, so check that the range is open before you go. For indoor shooting, Canada Archery Online runs a four-lane range and pro shop in Leaside and sponsors the Canadian National Team, while Archery Source Canada offers indoor lanes, lessons, and a full shop. And Hart House Archery Club, in the heart of the University of Toronto, has been coaching archers since 1919 with all equipment provided. Whether you want an outdoor session or structured indoor coaching, the city has a real option.

Archery in Toronto and the GTA: ranges, lessons and costs

We list three places to shoot inside Toronto: Canada Archery Online, Hart House Archery Club and the range at E.T. Seton Park. Widen the map to the whole GTA and the count grows to 13. You can book a lane in the city for $9.99 an hour, and the park range is free.

Where Can I Shoot Indoors In The City?

Canada Archery Online is at 105 Vanderhoof Avenue #5. It runs a 4-lane indoor range at $9.99 per lane per hour, and you do not need a membership to book it. The shop sells gear for recurve, compound and traditional bows. Its own site says you must bring your own equipment, because it does not rent gear right now. It offers lessons for all skill levels. It does not publish what a lesson covers, how long it runs or what it costs, so call to ask.

Hart House Archery Club, at 7 Hart House Circle, has taught archery at the University of Toronto since 1919. The club meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5 to 8 PM and lends you a bow for free. Beginners can take a 5-week session on those evenings. The club is built for the U of T crowd first, so if you are not part of it, check that you can join. Its membership rates are not published, so ask Hart House directly.

Is There A Free Outdoor Range?

Yes, the range at E.T. Seton Park is free to use. It sits in the Don Valley, along Don Mills Road south of Eglinton. There is no fee, no permit and no membership. You bring your own gear and follow the posted safety rules on the honor system. Shooting distances run from 18 to 70 meters.

Metrolinx is building the Ontario Line next to the park. Its access roads will stay in the park until late 2029, so check that the range is open before you go. There is no teaching at the park, so save it for later if you are new.

Where Are The Indoor Ranges In The Rest Of The GTA?

Shooting Academy Canada is at 40 Continental Place in Scarborough. Its lanes run from 10 to 30 yards, and it has a pro shop with equipment rental. Its coaches are NCCP-certified, and it also teaches the Mongolian style of archery.

Toronto School of Archery opened in 1994. It trains recurve archers who want to compete in the Olympic style, and it has two sites. One is the Olympium in Etobicoke, and the other is in East York. Its coach won a Coach Award from the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the school gives you a bow to use. Etobicoke runs on Thursdays from 7:30 to 10 PM and on weekends from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. East York runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 PM. Both sites close for school holidays and summer, and you must join, so it is not a drop-in option.

Grand Archery is at 2716 Victoria Park Avenue in North York. It runs a 20-yard indoor range built around Olympic-style recurve, with no membership needed. Its $50 starter package lasts two months and covers safety, the basics and practice. Its own description mentions a pro shop and rental gear. Our record does not confirm them, so call first if you need gear.

Solely Archery Club opened in 2019 at 44 Riviera Drive in Markham. It has up to 8 lanes at 20 yards, and it runs private and group courses. You pay $19.99 an hour with your own gear, or $39.99 an hour with rental gear. If you join, it costs $550 a year, $300 for six months or $888 a year for a VIP tier. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Peel Archery Club is at 107 Nuggett Court in Brampton. Its 70-meter indoor range lets recurve archers shoot long distances all winter. You must join, and members get 24/7 access. Rental gear is there if you show up without your own. Its program has three steps, from "Taste of Archery" to "Fundamental Development" to "High Performance," which is for archers who compete.

A single adult pays $403 plus HST a year, plus a one-time $50 initiation fee and a $100 workshare fee. Members run the club and are expected to pitch in.
